Antimicrobial Stewardship Practices and Resistance Trends in Tertiary Hospital Wards: Survey Analysis

Antimicrobial resistance represents one of the most significant and rapidly evolving threats to global public health, particularly within tertiary hospital settings where patient acuity and antibiotic consumption are exceptionally high. This paper presents a comprehensive survey analysis examining the current landscape of antimicrobial stewardship practices and their corresponding impact on resistance trends across various wards in tertiary hospitals. By utilizing a meticulously designed cross-sectional survey methodology, this study captures the diverse implementation strategies, barriers to adherence, and clinical outcomes associated with antimicrobial stewardship programs. The research systematically investigates the core elements of these programs, including leadership commitment, pharmacy interventions, diagnostic stewardship, and continuous education for healthcare providers. Concurrently, it evaluates the localized epidemiological data concerning multidrug-resistant organisms, such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae. The findings offer a granular perspective on how distinct ward environments, notably intensive care units compared to general medical wards, necessitate tailored stewardship approaches to effectively mitigate resistance propagation. Ultimately, this survey analysis underscores the critical need for interdisciplinary collaboration, robust data tracking, and dynamic policy formulation to optimize antimicrobial utilization and preserve the efficacy of essential therapeutic agents for future generations.References
